New Year’s Baby Steps

I’m not a fan of resolutions, but I am a fan of taking daily baby steps towards the life we all want to lead.

In that spirit, I’m listing below my personal goals for 2016. Many of these goals are small and easy to achieve if I just focus on my daily list, and some of these goals are enormous and will take millions of baby steps to reach.

I hope my personal list inspires you to write a list of your own for 2016.

Remember, these are MY baby step goals and not intended to be directed at anyone except for me personally.

#1 – Drink 8 ounces of water before my feet hit the floor in the morning

I’m hoping to improve my health this year by making my first drink of the day (every day) water. By starting with water you help jump start your metabolism and get those internal organs working their best first thing.

#2 – Drink more water

This past year I’ve let me love of water fall to the wayside. My goal is to step up my game in 2016 and get my baseline goal in daily. My baseline goal is 1/2 my bodyweight in ounces daily.

3 – Workout early in the morning 

I lead a VERY busy life and sometimes in 2015 my workout got pushed to the side. My goal for 2016 is to get my workout in first thing in the morning daily.

#4 – Read more

I love to read but sometimes life gets in the way and I go weeks without opening a book. This year I’m making it a practice to read daily.

#5 – Start meditation

I’m about as ADHD as they come. I struggle with focus and sitting still so my goal is to start a simple meditation program to help improve this part of my life.

#6 – Give up alcohol

For about 2 years after my late husband passed away I didn’t touch alcohol and it was such a plus in my life overall. I find that I’m less productive when I drink, my workouts are harder to complete, and my weight changes quickly. I’d like to go the entire year of 2016 alcohol free and see where it takes me.533223-300x225.jpg

#7 – Finish my book

A few months ago I was approached by one of the biggest literary agents in the world about doing my first book. It’s time I get that done. Standby.

#8 – Climb two Fourteeners in Colorado

This is a bucket list thing and part of what I do to help honor my late husband Mitch. Eventually I’d like to climb all 58 in Colorado. It’s time to knock a few more off the list.

#9 – Eat less meat

I’m not anti-meat but I’d like to eat less in the New Year. Lately I feel like meat is slowing me down and making me sluggish. Moderation is key but I’d like to cut it down.

#10 – De-Clutter

I’m a *less is more* kind of a girl but with 4 kids I find that I’m consistently underwater with clutter. My goal is to really cut it back this year and live with as little *stuff* as is humanly possible.

2016 is going to be the best year yet. I define where I am going and with this list it can’t be anywhere I don’t want to be.
